Here are some commonly-asked questions regarding the Parent Portal, and their corresponding answers. Please check back for updates.
What is PowerSchool?
PowerSchool is the Student Information System (SIS) being used by Beautiful Plains School Division (BPSD) to manage students’ grades, attendance, demographics, courses, etc.
Because PowerSchool is web-based, some of this information can be shared with parents/guardians through an Online Portal in an easy and safe manner.
Can the Parent Portal be accessed from anywhere?
Yes. The Parent Portal can be accessed using any computer (or compatible device) that can actively browse through the internet.
I have children in more than one BPSD school. Can I access their information with one Parent Account?
Yes. Provided that the Parent Portal is available within the school.
Can other people view my children’s information?
No. As long as you protect your username and password, others will not be able to see your child’s information.
To protect/monitor against unauthorized access, the system will also display a log of registered users who have access to your child’s information.
I forgot my login information. How do I retrieve my username/password?
If you forget your login information, click the Forgot Username / Password link on the login page at bpsd.powerschool.com and walk through the recovery steps as described.
Should I allow the computer/device to remember my username and password?
No. Never accept options provided by the computer/device to remember your username and password. This is to prevent others from logging in to the portal using your account.
Will school staff provide me with my login information over the phone?
No. Your login information will not be provided over the phone for security purposes.
This must be completed through the online login/password recovery process on the Parent Portal login page.
What is the computer/device requirement to use this system?
Most computer/device that can actively browse through the internet can access the Parent Portal.
It is recommended that you use an updated browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc.).
Why is "PowerSchool App” different than the BPSD Parent Portal website?
The "PowerSchool Parent Portal App" currently available in Apple & Google Play stores has limited functionality and does not allow feature customization.
To ensure the best possible user experience, we strongly recommend that mobile users access the BPSD Parent Portal through the browser link and avoid using the "PowerSchool App".
Do I need to logout of Parent Portal when done?
Yes. When you are done using the portal, please logout or shut down your computer. This is considered “best practice” to ensure information remains private, and protects against unauthorized access.
Will my child’s private information be secure?
Yes. The Parent Portal is hosted through PowerSchool, which is a secure Student Information System.
Your child’s records can only be accessed by authorized school officials, and those with whom you share your username and password.
My spouse and I are separated/divorced, can we create separate accounts for the same children?
Yes, as long as each parent/guardian has a unique email address, additional Parent Accounts are created.
I am a foster parent. Will BPSD provide me with Parent Portal access to Child and Family Services (CFS) children in my care?
If the CFS Agency Worker completes the CFS Consent Sign-Off form and agrees to give access, a Parent Portal account will be set up for you.
For more assistance, please contact your CFS Agency Worker and ask them to contact Rhonda Dickenson, Student Services Coordinator at[email protected]
Can I view my child’s assignments and course-level grading?
You will have access to view assignments and grades for students in Grades 9-12 and in the future, report cards as well.
I am unable to connect to the Parent Portal. How do I troubleshoot?
First, check to ensure that your internet service is working properly.
